The difference between a hard mount and a soft mount commercial washer comes down to one thing: how the machine handles the violent forces created during high-speed extraction. A hard mount washer is bolted and grouted to a reinforced concrete foundation that absorbs those forces for it. A soft mount washer carries its own internal suspension, so it absorbs the forces itself and can sit almost anywhere, including an upper floor.
